Why Wushu?

We all face many challenges every day.

When we were growing up, we thought life would get so much easier when we became an adult.

We came to find out that all that freedom we thought we were getting came with its own set of responsibilities as well. The primary challenge we all face now is this: how do I juggle everything in my life (job, kids, etc.) and still take care of myself?

For a growing number of people, Wushu Central Martial Arts Academy provides the perfect answer. Whether you are interested in physical fitness, self-defense, or even just an athletic social outlet, we provide a safe and positive environment where those with common interests can join together in physically rewarding and mentally challenging activities. To many of our students, the time that they spend in class is an oasis in the middle of their lives where they can focus on themselves without feeling selfish or guilty.


What is Wushu?

Wushu (also known as Kung Fu) is the style of martial arts displayed in movies by Jet Li, and Jackie Chan, and in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Rather than utilizing brute force and abrupt movements, Wushu techniques are graceful and precise. Wushu also incorporates stunning aerial and tumbling techniques, and an array of traditional weapons such as the powerful staff and the elegant straight sword.

Through our martial arts program, you will realize increased strength and flexibility, stronger bones and joints, increased stamina and energy, better coordination and balance, and weight loss. You will learn skills and techniques which will protect you if and when you need to defend yourself physically, mentally, or emotionally. You will have the opportunity to learn not only hand-to-hand martial arts, but also how to use a wide array of different martial arts weapons. And of course, you'll have great FUN!


Can I Do It?

Anybody can do it! Our classes include people of all backgrounds. Regardless of your size, fitness, or experience, you will be able to learn martial arts here. Because Wushu relies on technique rather than brute strength, both women and men can excel, and most classes are typically 50% male and 50% female.
